So,... Harrigfeld FINALLY put together a letter for the public regarding at least one of the issues that has come forward. The lawsuit was filed 06/2012, McCormick arrested 11/2012, tort claim filed 11/2012, McCormick pleads guilty 08/2013, another tort claim filed 02/2014, and now another tort claim filed 09/2014, and the department has only robotically repeated a statement similar to their mission statement a handful of times and initially agreed to a brief interview when the lawsuit was first filed. The department has had two spokesman that have yet to speak (seems a bit pointless).
Yet the state waits to release a statement until a month before elections??? Shameful!! I would like to believe that Otter's supporters are intelligent enough to see this. The protection of juveniles IS NOT and should never be political!!

Since I manage this website, I am going to take the liberty to be the first to 'comment' on this... letter. I encourage everyone to share their opinion, experience, and rebuttal, if any, in a comment on the letter.
First, Harrigfeld addresses that the alleged incident occurred several years ago... prior to 2012. So... if they have taken steps to address those concerns, I would say that it is impossible to restore public confidence in Juvenile Corrections since the McCormick incident occurred in 2012... AFTER this alleged incident and the steps taken to address those concerns. Harrigfeld could not possible be including the McCormick incident in her statement since McCormick plead guilty and was convicted of Lewd Conduct it is not 'alleged'.
If Harrigfeld is as committed as she states then why was nothing done to prevent the sexual abuse of McCormick's victim?? Just look over the documents in the McCormick tab under Discovery Docs and it is easy to see it could have been prevented. The plaintiff's took aggressive measures... not the department.
New leadership?? Nothing like throwing former Superintendent Betty Grimm under the bus!! Now I am not a fan of Betty and anyone could see by her degrading email regarding yours truly that she never was a fan of mine, that said... Harrigfeld's comments about the new exceptional leader speaks volume's of her opinion of the former leader. And ultimately, since Betty was reporting the issues to Harrigfeld... well what does that say??
